ROAR US Electric Off-road National Championship Race
Cocoa Beach Florida
August 20-24th
Wednesday practice started with basically a green track and by the end of the day there was a nice groove worked into the track. The weather was taking a toll on the out of town racers, with not only record setting heat but the typical Florida humidity. So everyone left to get some rest and prepare for Thursday.
Thursday began with the vehicles going through Technical Inspection before each run, then seeding heats. (Seeding is taking the fastest 3 consecutive lap times and adding them together, which is then be used to set the initial order used in the actual qualifying heat races.)
Friday and Saturday consisted of 2 rounds of qualifying each day using Qual Points (best 2 of the 4 rounds) to determine the Main events to be held on Sunday.
The racing was great over these two days with everyone adjusting their vehicles and raising their level of driving intensity. During qualifying it could be seen that the HobbyWing speed controllers were powering the vast majority of all the SPEC class racers. Most were using the V3.1 Stock Spec, but there were many Just Stock and V3.1 models too. In the modified class the V3.1 Aluminum version was in use.
Drivers using HobbyWing ESCs won All 3 TQ positions in the SPEC Classes.
Sunday came up quickly and excitement was in the air. The Triple A Main format is used for National Events and winners are scored using their 2 best mains. There were many great battles across ALL classes in all mains. The A main battles were amazing to watch as each driver gave everything he could to place well, or even better WIN.
After the main events finished the winners were awarded trophies and HOBBYWING drivers had not only Won but had won all three Stock Spec class titles.
